Dog cookies are a great way to reinforce and reward good habits in your dog. They can be a great addition to your training methods. Teaching a dog to come on command is a behavior that can be reinforced with the use of dog cookies. Rewarding (or as some folks say bribing) a dog with a delicious dog cookie can be an excellent way to make your dog see things your way. Dog’s always respond better to positive reinforcement. Yelling, hitting, or threatening are not only improper ways to train your dog, these methods will not endear your animal to you.
Included is one of our favorite dog cookie recipes. Mama’s Soft Doggie Cookies are a great mixture of “cookie” and “meat” based treats. They will appear, and have the texture of, cookies but will taste like beef or chicken (your choice). The whole process should take about one half hour and cost you less than 5 dollars per batch (compare that to store prices!).
These cookies will work for almost every breed, and any age group because they are soft (good for older dogs with teeth problems and younger dogs who are still developing their teeth) and you determine how many of them your dog will consume. For smaller dogs break the dog cookie into pieces and get some training mileage out of each one. For larger dogs it will be appropriate to reward them with an entire cookie.
Dog training should be a fun bonding experience for your dog and you. Ensure that create a loving bond by rewarding good behavior with delicious dog treats like dog cookies. They are cheap and easy to make, and will be very helpful during the training process. Whip up a batch and get out with your dog, you won’t regret it.
Good luck!
